How do I know if I am eligible for the UPGRADE pledge?
In 2019, we launched a Kickstarter for ULTRAMODERN5-REDUX. An add-on for that campaign was for an early build of the three AFFINITY books. The top two pledge levels (Complete Ultramodern and A Truly Unique Ultramodern5) include these books automatically. If you purchased or gained the Affinity books as a reward from 2019, you are eligible. Otherwise, you are not. A total of 260 people from the 2019 Ultramodern5-REDUX Kickstarter purchased the three Affinity books. If you cannot remember, you can go to your CrowdOx account and retrieve your pledge from 2019 (link below). What is the difference between the MONOCHROME and COLOR editions of Affinity?
Mechanically, nothing. Both variations will feature the same content, both rules and narrative. The monochrome will feature black & white illustrations while the color edition will be color. The color edition may also have more illustrations.

What if I only purchased one of the Affinity books in 2019; am I eligible for the UPGRADE?
I’m sorry to say, but no. We didn’t want to add a dozen pledge options for every possible potential upgrade and considering only a handful of people bought single book, we decided to offer only the three books together. If you purchased only one of the Affinity books in 2019 and would like to have a credit put towards this new campaign, send me a private message, and I can issue you a refund of your previous 2019 purchase.

Do I need ULTRAMODERN5 to play AFFINITY?
It’s suggested but not mandatory. We repeat the new rules regarding firearms and weapon properties from UM5, but this does not amount to much. We do not repeat any of the races, backgrounds, classes, or ladders from UM5. Some gear is reprinted if rules regarding them are being amended (such as crafting rules in Conestoga). The only books we deem mandatory are the three core 5th Edition rulebooks.

Are ALL three books required to understand the story of AFFINITY?
Each book in Affinity stands on its own as a setting, and the narrative contained within is self-enclosed. However, the story segments do point to a larger connected setting and certain aspects of this story may only make sense when reading the other two books.

Are there any differences between the LUXURY and STANDARD editions of AFFINITY?
Content-wise, no. They have the same illustrations. They only difference is production quality.

How do the Affinity books relate to one another?
It was inspired by movies like CLOUD ATLAS and THE FOUNTAIN, three stories that somehow relate in both subtle and obvious ways. Of course, this has NO bearing on gameplay as I imagine few GMs would take on the challenge to run three games at once. It is entirely offered as narrative value to make the experience of reading the books more appealing. Can an RPG convey the same enjoyment factor as a novel?
That’s my experiment, and that’s what I hope to create.

Is there an "order" to the three books?
Although it is true that Paradise was written first, followed by Conestoga and finally Torus, there is no specific order in which they should be read. In fact, in a move which I will admit may frustrate some of you, the narrative woven through one book reveal moments that occur before and after the events of the other two books, and this is repeated with all of them. If you read the narrative of one book, you will know certain secrets hidden from the other two.

What is BackerKit?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
